National Nurses Week – Honoring the Heart of Healthcare

Each year, from May 6 to May 12, the country pauses to recognize the talented, compassionate professionals working at the bedside through the darkest nights and busiest shifts. National Nurses Week is not just a date on the calendar. It is a heartfelt tribute to the millions of nurses who are the backbone of our healthcare system. This year’s theme, “The Power of Nurses,” is a perfect reflection of why we celebrate: because nurses heal, advocate, innovate, and lead.

National

We see that power every day here at Med‑Cert Training Center. “Nurses are first responders and last responders from Cleveland to Akron and all across the state of Ohio. They are teachers, comforters, and lifesavers. And this week, we join the entire nation in saying thank you, loud and clear.

The Importance of National Nurses Week

Florence Nightingale, founder of modern nursing, was born on May 12, 1820. Her pioneering work in the Crimean War showed that sanitation, data, and compassionate care could significantly reduce death rates. Today, nurses carry on that legacy. They work 12‑hour shifts, often forgoing meals and breaks, to ensure every patient in a busy Cleveland hospital, a quiet Akron clinic, or a patient’s home receives world‑class care.

But nursing is more than a job; it’s a calling.” It requires clinical excellence, emotional resilience, and a heart that keeps giving even when tired. That’s why National Nurses Week is so important. It reminds us to look past the scrubs and see the person, the parent, the friend, the neighbor who chose a life of service.

Certified Nursing Assistants and Allied Health Professionals: Why They Are Important

Registered nurses are often the stars of the show, but we also need to celebrate the unsung heroes who work alongside them. Certified Nursing Assistants (CNAs), Home Health Aides, Phlebotomy Technicians, and EKG Technicians. These dedicated professionals are the backbone of everyday patient care. A CNA may help a patient eat his or her breakfast. A phlebotomy technician may draw blood for life-saving tests. An EKG technician may capture the rhythm of a struggling heart.

We are proud to offer hands-on, career-focused programs for all of these positions right here at Med-Cert Training Center. If you’re beginning your healthcare career or just want to add new skills, our Cleveland and Akron courses are designed for your life. We also offer critical CPR, first aid, and BLS for healthcare providers certifications—because every nurse and aide needs to be prepared to respond to an emergency.
